WBS and Middlesex University

Work Based Learning Studies (WBS) is centred on the principle that learning takes place in all areas of life. It recognises practical experience, helping individual to build academic qualifications based on learning from their works. WBS is an award-winning programme with innovative learning methods.

In 1996 Middlesex University won a Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education for its development in WBS, and in 2005 the Higher Education Funding Council for England has designated Middlesex University as a Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning in Work Based Learning.

The Institute for Work Based Learning and East Asia Work Based Learning Centre (EAWBLC)

National Centre for Work Based Learning Partnerships (NCWBLP) was established in 1993 and has become the UK 's foremost developer and provider of higher education in WBS tailored to the personal and professional needs of individuals and organisations. It has worked with some 120 employers and more than 1,500 students of different backgrounds.

As part of the strategic development of Work Based Learning at Middlesex University, the NCWBLP has now become The Institute for Work Based Learning.  This is a pan-university institute independent of any school.

East Asia Work Based Learning Centre (EAWBLC) is an overseas teaching centre of The Institute for Work Based Learning, which was set up in Hong Kong in 1999.

EAWBLC offers different WBS programmes from Bachelors, Masters to Doctorate levels with some 300 learners, providing framework studies in various fields for their personal, professional, and career advancement.
