With the aim to inform and educate the people of East Asia to help improve the longevity and success of their career, the Middlesex University East Asia Regional Office was established in Hong Kong in 1996 - a pioneer initiative at the time for the UK higher education.  Markets covered include China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Korea and Japan. It has enabled closer support to students and extended the excellent teaching quality of Middlesex to the region.  Rapid growth in the Chinese market has led to the opening of the regional sub-offices in Shanghai, Beijing and Chengdu, in 2001, 2002 and 2004 respectively.


Mission 

-  To build up connection network with local institutes 

To run local programme in HK with local institutes 

To assist student with their admission application to the UK 

To administrate applications received in the region – Including China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan 


With its active participation and successful penetration in the region, the office has also established links with a number of local universities.

With the aim of providing the best advice for our East Asian students, our services include:

-  Providing detailed information on all courses available at Middlesex University ;

-  Offering comprehensive and relevant guidance and counselling to students and their parents ;

-  Prompt processing of applications for entry into all programmes and the issuing of offer letters for places at Middlesex University ;

-  Facilitating visa application ;

-  Providing information on English Language courses to students of different levels for enrolment to meet university requirements;

Achievement: 

-  A pioneer in the UK Higher Education to establish regional office in Hong Kong in 1996 to promote UK Education and to support international students from East Asia

-  A leading role in China with sub-offices in Shanghai, Beijing and Chengdu established in 2001, 2002 and 2004 respectively.

-  Launch innovative programmes locally like Work Based Learning Studies and Global Campus in Hong Kong since Year 2000 with local Higher Education Institutes. These programmes offered educational opportunities and a flexible study schedule especially for working people.

-  Introduced collaborative degree and masters programmes in China as early as 2002 with The Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen (RITS)

-  Organise Graduation Ceremony in Hong Kong for students attending offshore Middlesex programmes.

-  Providing more opportunities for knowledge transfer and cultural exchanges, for example, Middlesex University introduced the first Traditional Chinese Medicine in the UK through a collaborative partnership with the Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1995

China Sub-Office 

East Asia - Sub Office (Shanghai)

Opened in September 2001, Shanghai Office is the first office established by Middlesex University East Asia Regional Office in China Mainland.

Shanghai Office functions partly as a recruitment and marketing office and partly as admission office. It is there to disseminate information of studying with Middlesex University and living in the UK, to process student applications, help with accommodation arrangements, airport pick-up etc.

Shanghai Office also is a first point of contact when potential Chinese institutes wish to discuss toward establishment of collaborative programmes of any kinds.

Geographically, Shanghai Office looks after agents, links and students in Central or East China areas.

East Asia - Sub Office (Beijing)

Beijing Office was opened in August 2002, one year after Shanghai Office was born. Beijing Office is conveniently located in downtown of Beijing, 5 minutes walk from the tub station. Beijing Office is staffed by 4 girls and has similar functions as Shanghai Office. It looks after North-eastern, and North China areas.

Chengdu Office was established in May 2005. In July 2006, it was moved to campus of Sichuan University. Chengdu Office looks after the huge Southwest China area.
